Weaknesses[]

  • Although experienced, Max still has all the weaknesses of an ordinary human.

History[]

Max was at one point an agent of a secret organization known as the Plumbers, who have a base in Mount Rushmore. At some point in his career, he encountered the villainous New God Kalibak, and gave him his biggest shame.

At the start of summer vacation, Max would go on a road trip with his two grandchildren, Ben Tennyson and Gwen Tennyson, in his personal RV, the Rust Bucket. During this vacation, Ben received the alien device known as the Omnitrix, and Max would help instruct him on how to use it right.

One day, Max took Ben and Gwen to a Bazaar in Nowhere, Kansas, when he was unexpectedly swept away by Superman, who, alongside Batman, wanted to talk to the grandfather. This happened while the two's teammates in the Justice League, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Hawkgirl approached his grandchildren, intending to take the Omnitrix by force.

While Ben fought back against the Justice League as Diamondhead, only to get punched away by Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman came down to the ground, with Superman carrying Max and Hawkgirl, when Gwen approached, telling them about the fight that ensued.

Once the fight is over, and the Justice League apologizes to Ben for the earlier confrontation, the team agrees with Max's judgment about Ben being capable with the device, deciding not to push further about it. Wonder Woman then asks Max if she can train Ben, and Max responds that it's Ben's choice, leading Ben to agree with her offer, and Flash to help her out. As the rest of the League leaves, Superman tells Max that he hopes he can find what he's looking for at Mount Rushmore. When Gwen asks what would be there, Max tells her that she can find out when they arrive.

Later, Max, alongside Gwen and Flash, watch Ben's training session with Wonder Woman at Lake Rouleau. In response to Flash's comment that Max can intervene at any point if he believes Wonder Woman is going too far. Max instead expresses worries that Ben may take on opponents he's not capable of handling by himself just to be like his heroes.
