Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman is a character in A League of My Own. He is one of the few surviving Kryptonians, the defender of Metropolis, and one of the founding members of the Justice League.
History[]
Kal-El is one of the last surviving Kryptonians, being rocketed away from the planet as a baby under the direction of his birth parents Jor-El and Lara, who sent him away for his safety. Landing on Earth in the town of Smallville, where he was taken in by humble farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent, he was raised by them as Clark Kent, while exposure to Earth's yellow sun activated latent Kryptonian superpowers.
As he grew up, learning his heritage, Clark moved to Metropolis, where he was hired by the Daily Planet to serve as a journalist. He would also make his public debut as the hero Superman not long after, protecting the city from many threats, including the billionaire Lex Luthor, whose vast influence made him nearly untouchable from the law, the Kryptonian AI Brainiac, who indirectly killed Krypton by withholding vital information from its people and now bottles various planets, and the New Gods of Apokolips, among them the planet's ruler Darkseid, who once brainwashed Superman into serving him, his son Kalibak, and his lieutenant Granny Goodness.
Superman would not fight crime alone forever, as he later teamed up with other heroes, such as Flash and Batman. One day, the Imperium invaded Earth, and Superman would work with Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Hawkgirl to defeat them, leading to the birth of the Justice League.
Many of Superman's enemies would become enemies of the Justice League as well, with the League providing the evidence to finally get Luthor arrested, and Brainiac and Darkseid perishing in an explosion near Apokolips.
Learning of the Omnitrix for the first time, which the team believed was a WMD, Superman would sweep away Max Tennyson at the Bazaar in Nowhere, Kansas so he and Batman could talk with him in private, while their teammates approached Max's grandchildren Ben and Gwen.
Superman later descended from the roof alongside Batman, while carrying Max and the defeated Hawkgirl. On the ground, he saw the defeated Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter, and Gwen ran up to warn them that Ben was forced to transform into Diamondhead to fight back against the heroes and was now fighting Wonder Woman on his own far away. Hearing this, Superman would fly over and try to stop the battle, only to find that by the time he arrived, the Omnitrix timed out and Ben and Wonder Woman had stopped their fight.
In the aftermath, as the Justice League apologizes to Ben, Superman agrees with Max that Ben should keep the Omnitrix and the League will not try taking it. After Ben accepts the offer to train with Wonder Woman and Flash, shortly before the Man of Steel leaves for the Watchtower with the rest of the Justice League, he informs Max that the League will be looking further into the Omnitrix before slyly remarking that he hopes the old man can find what he's looking for at Mount Rushmore, much to Gwen's confusion.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
Under a yellow sun, Superman gains a variety of enhancements that make him above ordinary humans. These include enhanced strength, durability, speed, leaping, and hearing. He can also fly, use x-ray vision to see through walls, as well as heat vision which can allow him to produce concentrated beams of heat from his eyes, and super-breath, in which Superman can produce a cold, windy breath that can freeze or blow opponents away.
Abilities[]
Weaknesses[]
- Superman is vulnerable to kryptonite, a green irradiated rock left over from the destruction of Krypton. Making contact with it hurts him, and being in its presence makes him sick.
- If Superman were to be exposed to red sunlight, like that of the conditions other Kryptonians lived under, Superman would lose his powers, making him just as vulnerable as a human.
- Superman lacks resistance to magical attacks, and can be overpowered by strong bursts of electricity. His super hearing can also be overwhelmed by making loud noises that hurt his ears.
- Superman's x-ray vision cannot see through lead.
